There are times when a home does not need us to gut renovate the space before adding the furnishings, lighting and décor. Such was the case with this 1906 colonial. Like a museum curator, the interiors of this home were not built around a formulaic furniture plan, but instead around my collections of objects, furniture and textiles – mixing vintage with modern in a way that feels neither overly designed nor too precious. We paid homage to the home’s history by juxtaposing existing turn-of-the-century flourishes such as carved newel posts, dentil moldings, and stained-glass sidelights, with modern furnishings, artwork and floor coverings that speak to a contemporary lifestyle.
